Jump, Jump, Jump!
While Emily has decided on ballet lessons this fall, Madeline has chosen gymnastics. She loves the trampoline the best, especially with the ribbon:
Furry Friends
On our trip to Vancouver, the girls met some new friends, of the furry variety. Here are Teddy and Panda with the girls:
Island Fun
Over the Thanksgiving weekend we travelled to Gabriola Island to visit with some of our relatives. The weatherperson was totally wrong and we had a beautiful weekend. This is the lovely view from Aunt Bev's place: It was apple picking time, the girls were ready...
Giving Thanks
It's just a week away from Thanksgiving and I thought I'd start off the sentiment a bit early. I give thanks for this beautiful (and aromatic) bounty from our garden, the gardens of Wild Flight Farm Organics in Mara and from the local forests, including the generosity...
Gap-Toothed Girl
Finally the tooth that has been holding on tighter than a barnacle on a weathered boat has fallen out. Emily was pretty excited and eager to show off her new smile.
PB Season
To most people, PB stands for peanut butter. Not so in our household, it's Prescribed Burn. It's the time of year when the hot days, teamed with cold nights and possible showers make for ideal conditions for lighting forest fires. This is not your delinquent-youth...
Terry Fox Run
Emily's school, Mountain View Elementary, participated in this year's Terry Fox Run. Emily did the 4km run/walk, which is awesome! These are her schoolmates:
Great White Hunters
Well, the annual Hunt hunt has come and gone again. All the blue grouse in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region can breathe a little easier. This has been a tradition for Simon and his dad, brother, uncles and cousins for maybe 40 years. As time has passed it has evolved into...
Emilina Ballerina
A very excited girl after her first ballet lesson! Incidentaly, her shoes, tights, bodysuit and headband were mine, when I was six. Thanks for saving them, Mom!
Friends in high places
We are thrilled to have my friend, Brett, and his family, Ali and Danielle, visit us here in Revy from the UK. Since the wildflowers are still blooming Simon took them up to the top of Mt. Revelstoke. Looking north: They went down to the 'icebox', with it's permanent...

Wildflower mania
This year has been one of strange occurences in the climactic world of Revelstoke. I know this is true everywhere, but that's another can o' worms for later... The super-heavy snowfall last winter, together with a cool, wet, extended spring, have created a stall in...
Happy Campers
We did a quick overnight at a provincial campsite just 25 kms north of Revelstoke. We got a primo spot right next to the lake and settled in for the night. Madeline serenaded Simon while he built a campfire: Heating up the coals for marshmallows of course! Snuggly...
Shambhala
Simon, Dana, Dean and I travelled 4 hours south to the hamlet of Salmo which is the unpretentious home of one of the planet's best music festivals, Shambhala. It is held on a 500 acre farm over 5 days, and features 5 stages, food and craft vendors, and 10,000 people....

My new electric bike!! I am super stoked!!
Syl and Trev visit!

Family Celebrations
We also visited Vancouver for some special family celebrations. The girls' Nonna had a birthday; of course any excuse for cake is A-OK with our kids! The next weekend a party was held to celebrate the engagement of our sister, Sylvia, and her fiance Trevor. There was...
Parks Canada Day
Simon manned a firefighting information booth at Stanley Park in Vancouver. Although it poured for 6 solid hours, it was well attended when the rain finally abated. We came down for a visit, here are the fire beavers: Also, Simon hammed it up with BeeBop the Beluga...
Summer days
We went for a little hike at Mt. Revelstoke, on the 2km trail and the Nels Nelson ski jump. Si and the girls climbed to the top of the ski jump area, like the little mountain girls that they are. They make me so proud! Looking west towards Eagle Pass and the TCH. With...
Revelstoke Music Festival
Simon's band, the Sofa Kings, played in the local music fest's 'battle of the bands' this year. They were easily the most accomplished and polished musicians of the bunch, but the prize went to original new talent. The girls and I enjoyed the music all afternoon and...
Happy Canada Day!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! We watched the Revelstoke parade, with free cake afterwards! It made us reminisce about last Canada Day, in China:

Visitors and around the house…
The melting of the snow and the re-awakening of all things living in spring also herald the beginning of travel season. Being situated on the Trans-Canada highway, we get our share of passers-by. Here's a great pic of the girls and their friend, Zaia. Maddie is not...
