Tomato-zilla

November9

I was very fortunate to have a nice raised garden bed built for me this spring. We filled it with fresh dirt and a large amount of composted kitchen waste. Well… I have never seen a tomato plant go this crazy! And this is a cherry tomato plant, I thought they were smaller. Not so in this case. It got so big I had to support some of the branches with sawhorses. To be truthful this is 2 plants, but still…
So I named it Tomato-zilla, for its sheer size and how it choked out almost everything else in the garden. It did provide us with hundreds of juicy yellow flavour explosions, so thank you tomato-zilla! Next year I’m going to do some pruning…

Part 2

Here it is, the eve of November 9, and our plant is still churning out these lovely tomatoes. First frost tonight, so late this year! That will be all for the season for this crazy plant.

Summer on the lake

August26

Simon and the girls drove about 40km north of here for a day of boating and exploring.

Our girls are cartwheel crazy. They are non-stop; in the house, on the trampoline, in sync down the street…for blocks! So there were, of course, some beach cartwheels.

Huckleberry Time

August16

Madeline went out to a top secret location with a few friends of ours to pick huckleberries.
She asked my friend to send me this view so I could enjoy it too:

A happy picker, rigged up for speed picking. Madeline came home with 2-3 litres of berries, yum!!

Shambhalaaaaaaa!

August11

It’s that time of year again. It’s like running away to the circus for adults. It’s where we can dress up in any zany, kooky costume we like and share a love of life, music, silliness, and loud BASS with a whole bunch of like-minded people. Oh, and the music is amazing too! As always we are styled up by my man, Alex, big hugs to him and his amazing organizational skills and medical team, who keep everyone safe and happy.

Summer vacation

June25

It’s summer vacation and sometimes you have to get creative with things to do. Today Madeline decided to turn both herself and me into monsters with our face paint. Pretty scary!

Take your kids mountain biking day

June7

Parks Canada annually hosts “Take your kids mountain biking day” on Mt. Revelstoke. Maddie was at a birthday party but Emily was keen to participate. The Park is building a kids bike skills course as a new visitor attraction. This year the kids rode on the proposed site, we can’t wait for it to be finished!
