Guiding Ceremony
Tonight was the 'flying up' ceremony for both girls in Girl Guides. Madeline is finished as a Spark and can be a Brownie next year, and Emily moves up from Brownies to Guides. Emily is wearing my old Brownie uniform from the 70's, and Madeline has my Guide hat on too....
Springtime!
When the fish aren't biting it's fun exploring the shoreline. Beaton Arm, Upper Arrow Lake.
Journée Sportive (Sports Day)
One of the best days of the school year is Sports Day. Madeline participated with the kids from her school, École des Glaciers, and Arrow Heights Elementary. Maddie had a blast.
Sports Day
Emily's Sports Day was brought inside due to torrential rain. The kids still had lots of fun! Intense concentration durring the bean bag toss: Another happy sack racer: Maybe they get this from their dad? This is the race-winning lunge at the Pine Lake Picnic, Wood...
Ballerina time
The girls had their end of the year dance recital to two sold out nights at the Performing Arts Centre. Here they are ready to go: It must be pretty fun performing in such a nice venue. Maddie is front and centre, not surprisingly. Emily is off to the right side of...
Maddie turns 7!
The much anticipated 7th birthday was a fun one for Madeline. On the actual date she chose sushi for dinner and angel food cake like her dad. Always enthusiastic, I think they are keen on this game... A few days later she had a pool party with a group of her friends,...
Last day of skiing
It's time again to hang up the skis for the season. There's still 3 metres of snow up there but the visiting skiers are gone and the ski area needs them to stay open. Emily had 2 goals this season. Her first was to ski "Kill the Banker", a run that is very long, and...
Endings and Beginnings
As the ski season comes to an end, it's time to say good bye to our friends at the Herbert House. These (and a few more) were our room-mates for 6 months while our house was under construction. Some will be back, some won't. Happy travels to you all, we had some great...
Emily turns 9!
Emily was lucky enough to have a birthday on a weekend this year, so a party on the real day. It was a fun filled day; a few presents from family afar opened in the morning, ski all day with the Nancy Greene racers, and a pool party afterwards. 13 giggly girls......
Spring Break
We are very lucky and grateful to be able to visit our aunt and uncle's house on Gabriola Island. It's so great to get a dose of spring when there is still 5' of snow on the ground in Revelstoke. Exploring during low tide... Drawing and painting on the grass...
We love you Spot and Pearl!
Thank you for being such great pets! Our pets had become very ill. Our girls made a difficult decision and stood by it with strength. We are proud of you Emily and Maddie.
Banner painting 2014
It's that time of year again. The girls and I head down to the Visual Arts Centre and create colourful banners for our community. In the spring, these banners will be hung on the light standards above the streets of Revelstoke. The girls really enjoy this project and...
Snow!
As most of you know, we live in one of the snowiest places in Canada. I love beautiful newly-fallen snow, blanketing everything. It is so peaceful in our quiet neighbourhood. A snowy morning: Where has our garage gone? We had to keep an eye out if the kids could reach...
Lovely Ladies
Who are these masked beauties in my living room?
Proudly presenting…
There's lots of little things to put together in our house. The girls celebrated the arrival of their new mattresses by beautifully making up their beds with the colourful quilts made by their Nonna.
Fruity
Madeline is learning about healthy eating at Sparks (Girl Guides for little ones). Each week a Spark takes a turn bringing a snack for the group. Maddie is quite proud of her yummy creation!
Maddie’s first ski race
The Revelstoke Ski Club hosted a Nancy Greene Ski League race this weekend. Emily was at a birthday party but Madeline was keen to race. Waiting for her turn: Racer ready, 3, 2, 1, go! Maddie the fast, as she likes to be called. Top 10 finishers got a poduium spot,...
Skiing above the clouds
Most of the winter, Revelstoke sits under the valley clouds. While somewhat depressing to some, the opportunity is there to ride the gondola high up above the clouds to the brilliant sunshine. A scenic shot of Madeline descending from the mountaintop. It's always fun...
Christmas Day
Santa found us in our new house. It was a fun filled morning of excitement! Boxes in the kitchen but we are happy to be here. Maddie really likes her new boots! A girl's gotta have some makeup for special occasions... The aftermath. The Christmas Elf 🙂
Christmas Eve
We finally got our occupancy permit and were able to move in on December 24th. The house is not yet finished but it's good enough for what we are calling 'camping mode'. We trimmed a tree while Christmas songs played in the background. All set for Santa... The 2 big...
Christmas Concerts
Madeline's school performed "A Christmas Carol" this year. Madeline volunteered to represent her class in the play. She was cast as Bob Cratchett's daughter and had a short conversation with Ebeneezer Scrooge in her scene. Afterwards each class performed a song. Emily...
Ski Day!
First Day of skiing this season. Big smiles as the girls are geared up for the Nancy Greene racers!
Twirl approved
We stopped by the house yesterday. It is very exciting watching the pieces fall into place. The flooring is in, it looks beautiful, and gets full approval from the girls as well. We can't wait to be sitting in the bench seat behind the girls!
Family help
We've had a number of visits from family members in Vancouver. The support we are getting from them and our fellow Revelstokians is amazing. Our family enjoyed the first lunch together in the house. Two and a half generations of Hunts. The ladies were busy staining...
Moving along…
The exterior framing of our house is just about done. We've seen many of the local carpenters come out to give a hand. Thanks so much to Dean and his teams of skilled volunteers that have ensured the building is nice and square!
In the forest again
Today I was able to try out a trail rider from Adaptive Adventures Kelowna. It was really great to get out on a forest trail again! My trusty helpers...
Feeling the love
Last July we had an event where well-wishers could decorate plywood for our house. It's now up and a permanent part of our house!
More shapes
We can now add triangles to the current shape of our project. Roof trusses went up today; it's starting to look like a house! Emily at the front door.
School Begins
Emily is in grade three at Begbie View and Madeline is in grade one at the french school. Here they are excited about getting ready for the new school year. First few days!
Holiday weekend
It's the end of summer holidays, so we chilled out at Mara Lake. We are very fortunate and thankful to be able to visit our friends' cabin. Morning views from the porch swing... Fun in the sun... Boat cruise and a broken foot. And look what happened on the drive...
