SAND, and lots of it!!
In downtown Revy, as you can see, it is deep, deep sand under all the houses. It makes for very sturdy foundations (ours; 80+ years old and no cracks) but tough for digging. One scoop out, half falls back in. So the foundation pit is pretty big considering the addition extends only 6′ from the house on the side. All is going smoothly and more cement is coming soon.
